The leadership would have preferred not to have them, so told all the MPs who were outside the Shadow Cabinet but hoping to win a place that they should not stand and should just support the existing members. As a result the only non-incumbent candidates were not very credible and the election results rather meaningless in showing popularity.<br /><br />I think MatGB has become confused in his terms. Given t...Eww, Block Voting, what a horrible setup. Given that you use AV for selections and leadership elections, why not use STV for the Shadow Cabinet?
