They are not the end of the world.

One of the reasons I oppose AV is that it is less proportional than FPTP.

AV does not benefit Minor parties or the major parties, it only benefits a 3rd party, i.e. the Lib Dems.

If we are to have reform, why not have reform to a system that would actually improve things like a Mixed member system.

I also oppose the ridiculous notion that a 3rd preference should be judged as equivalent to a 1st preference. They are frankly not.

A vote is not just a way of ranking preference it is you giving your mandate to a candidate and body of ideas.Stephen Wigmorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15604582974059809054noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7985429043801017839.post-8742143298029921532011-01-05T11:23:46.151+00:002011-01-05T11:23:46.151+00:00Best Savings RateNobody gives better rates than th...Best Savings RateNobody gives better rates than the Post Office (except for the State Government Treasury, but their solvency is always in question) for Fixed Deposits. There's at least half a dozen sentences that have one or two words missing off the end. I'm not being a grammar Nazi, it's just making it all rather hard to read.

Makes some good points - if/when somebody tidies the thing up I'd be happy to share!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01524538866628552935noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7985429043801017839.post-48627620198836397162011-01-04T10:53:35.141+00:002011-01-04T10:53:35.141+00:00How about the Bhutanese system where there is a se...How about the Bhutanese system where there is a second round in each constituency, contested by the two parties gaining the highest share of the vote nationally?

Every MP has to get over 50% of the vote, every vote counts, and you get a majority :)Old Politicshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06477896294308974444noreply@blogger.com
