How long until a Chinese aircraft carrier sails up the Thames?

Political commentator John Rentoul has gone well past 500 in his Questions To Which The Answer is No series: some greatest hits in the inaugural annual awards.

But today's Mail on Sunday suggests that there may be a need for a new category to cover urgent "how long ..." and "when will ... " inquiries about things that will almost certainly never happen.

Their main op-ed today saw Ian Morris (who does have a book to promote) ask a troubling question about the future world order, as the Mail limbers up to campaign again for more Dreadnoughts.

After Beijing sends a frigate to the Med, a leading author poses a chilling question...

Have we hired it, does it have a crew of Brits.

The problem for some people they still see us as a force in the world, love the idea that we should be in Libya now, getting our share of Oil or hero worship.

If that ship is in peace who the hell cares, never know we may well hire it to go to war.
