Nadine unbanned

Is Nadine Dorries MP being gagged and censored from her proper place at the heart of political debate?

Certainly not by the dreaded Fabians.

The backbench MP has, along with her colleague Douglas Carswell, kindly accepted our invitation to come and debate the Cameron Conservatives with Polly Toynbee and myself at the Fabian New Year Conference 'Causes to Fight For' (and perhaps against too!) on January 16th.

But perhaps by the dreaded Telegraph, with whom she had a run-in over the great expenses scandal.

Guido Fawkes is worried.

Guido couldn’t help notice however Nad has been missing from other places as well. He hears that the orders came from the top of The Telegraph that none of the paper’s staff were to write about her ever again in their pages.

Fortunately, if there were a Telegraph Nadine ban in place for all eternity, it would now appear to have been lifted.

Rosa Prince reported for the Telegraph yesterday on Dorries' threat to bring down Speaker Bercow if he sees off Nigel Farage and returns to Westminster.

It is customary for sitting speakers to be returned unopposed.

But one backbencher, Nadine Dorries, said: “When a new parliament sits, we MPs, at a strategic moment, have the opportunity to shout ‘no’ when the motion to reinstate the Speaker is announced. I reckon it’s going to be a fairly loud chorus.”
