Provisional Problems

Nerves creep into the Wake County GOTV operation as news filters in that, rather than wait in line in the pouring rain, voters are going to less busy polling stations outside of their precincts - where their ballots are only registered as PROVISIONAL, and only counted in the event of a tie between Obama and McCain, increasing the chances of legal wrangling later. (There are some 900 Democratic lawyers registered across the state already).

"How can they be doing this, after all that's happened in the last 8 years?" sighs one activist, shattered and soaking wet already.

Too much of the campaign's considerable energy seems geared towards trying to iron out the many flaws in the US electoral system... just a thought

Welcome

Welcome to the Next Left blog from the Fabian Society. We have been writing about policies and politics since the late 19th century. Now we are firmly in the 21st century, starting debates that matter today. As with all Fabian publications, posts on Next Left represent the views of their individual authors, not the collective view of the Fabian Society as a whole.
