Compass conference Saturday

Today is the Compass conference - No Turning Back.

It is the usual political and policy jamboree with break-out events organised by pressure groups and think-tanks from across the left. The full agenda and programme is here. Registration on the day remains available.

The Fabian Society have a panel on "What Capitalism Do We Want Now?"
Speakers: Jack Dromey, Deputy Director, UNITE the Union; Rachel Reeves, Labour PPC for Leeds West & former Bank of England Economist; David Coats, Associate Director, The Work Foundation; Polly Toynbee, The Guardian

Myself and Phillip Blond are debating Labour vs Tory: Who are the real progressives?", chaired by The Guardian's John Harris in a Demos event.

The Young Fabians are involved in a session on "After the euro election - what now for social europe?" with Unions 21 and FES
Speakers: Claude Moraes MEP; Kare Groucutt, Young Fabians; Michael Leahy, Community; Dr Sylvia-Yvonne Kaufmann MEP; Tristram Hunt (chair)

Those three are all at 11.15am. Too much choice, surely, when people just want their local political discussion to be good.

No doubt there will be some reports back on Next Left in the next couple of days. And if you are at the Compass conference, please do let us know what you made of it.
